Open Open Open

Yes, Virginia, the retail store is finally open for business. Nearly one-thousand survival, tactical and self-defense products (and counting) are in-store and ready for action - in an efficient, organized and friendly environment with exceptionally knowledgeable staff too. I can hardly believe it myself :)

Technically, the OPEN sign goes on tomorrow (Saturday) morning, but the doors are now open while we finish up with our inventory tasks. Feel free to stop by, say "hi" and take a gander at what we've built. Like we've said before, it's not your typical or average gun and gear store.

FYI, we are still waiting on our FFL, but are near the end of the process and should have it shortly. Beat the crowds that will certainly ensue once that happens by paying us a visit at your earliest convenience. Not a ploy; just sound advice.

Almost, But Not Quite

So, we seem to have underestimated the amount of time it would take to get the inventory squared away. Partly because we ended up with a lot more inventory than we initially planned. As a result, we are still in our "slow roll open" phase, and in addition to pricing, labeling, and entering product in our inventory system, we are still getting everyone trained and comfortable with...everything. We do apologize for the delay.

Our new grand opening date is currently set for Wednesday, September 12th. I think we can hit this one, as what's left to be done is much more of a known quantity now.

I did put a couple new pictures up.

Grand Opening

It's down to the wire. Here is a quick timeline up to the grand opening event:

8/11 to 8/18 - Point of sale system install and testing. Fixtures. Hiring.

8/20 to 8/25 - Stocking, merchandising, data entry, assembly, training and testing.

8/27 - Final detailing.

8/30 - Slow roll open.

8/31 - Grand opening.

There are also some new store pictures up.

Nearly There

Well, it's been a long and challenging road; almost a year in the making, but we are almost there. The store construction is about 90% done,  we have a backlog of products to enter into inventory that is into the 100's, and the security-system and point-of-sale terminals and other IT goodies are going in in the next couple weeks. Product labeling and arrangement, final touches, and a week of dry-runs will just about do it. No FFL yet, but we are close.

I've always heard that it's difficult to imagine how much time and effort it takes to start a small-business, especially in California. Well, that's no lie. It's a huge risk as well, especially in this economy. It all started late 2011 when three cunning individuals got together and began imagining ways to help further the freedom, liberty and self-sufficiency cause. To make the world a better place for ourselves and other patriotic Americans. We've had a lot of help along the way, and I'd like to take a moment to personally thank those who gave of themselves to bring this plan to fruition.

We don't expect to make a living from this; it was never about the money. That might sound hard to believe, but I guess you'd have to know the people involved to understand that. Secretly, maybe we all dreamed of having a store full of gear to learn about and test in the field. Yes, we spend a lot of time in the field and love new gear, although skills and knowledge always take precedent. Whatever the motivations, we are finally nearly there: The only store in the Sacramento area where you can physically get your hands on bullets, beans, bandages and more. There will be some surprises. That's all I can say, for now.

In closing, I also want to thank the families of those who sacrificed time to make this happen. In some cases it was probably good to have us out of the house, but in others I know the extra burden it caused...emotionally, physically, and financially. We could not have done this without all the help and support we've received.

Welcome traveller, to the new Last Stand Readiness & Tactical website. Our retail store is currently being built and will be opening late July to early August, with any luck. The heavy construction has been completed, so next is electrical, paint and fixtures. We're well into the product acquisition phase as well, so if there is a readiness or tactical product or manufacturer you'd like to suggest, feel free to Contact Us or add a comment here.

We're working hard to bring you something unique and...yes better in the guns, gear and preps scene. We've sourced many less-common and hard-to-find items, and have our eye on stocking things that lead their segment in value and practicality. We use most of these products ourselves, so rather than the same old copy-and-paste product descriptions, we'll provide unique insight into a product's many uses and particular strengths.

One of the early goals of our business was to keep our inventory system synchronized between the retail and online outlets, and we've acheived this. If a product is listed as being in stock on this site, then we have it on hand. Now, in all honesty there is a possiblility that someone may be standing in line in-store or currently checking out with the item you have your eye on. We look to minimize these situations by keeping our inventory strong and indicating when a product is habitually low-stock. We'll make every effort to make things right if this happens though.

That's all for now. Thank you for supporting "Last Stand" and we look forward to serving you soon and helping you to become more prepared and tactically-formidable.
